Overview:
As a member of the Marine HES&S team, the HES Professional will oversee and implement safety and health-related programs. The HES Professional will also manage security and response plans, coordinate compliance oversight activities, and participate in emergency response and security activities.
Responsibilities:
Develops, reviews, and revises emergency response plans, security plans, organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
Maintains operational readiness of vessel fleet, ensuring response and security plans are reviewed, accurate, audited, and exercised as regulations
Provides direction and safety support and is accountable for ensuring safety programs and processes drive continuous safety performance improvement.
Compiling organizational safety metrics, analyzing data, and identifying processes and programs to mitigate safety and health risks.
Ensures compliance with regulatory and MPC safety requirements and is accountable for providing quality guidance and support on all Health, Safety, and Security regulatory compliance matters.
Contributes to organizational and company health and safety strategy. Understands what tasks are occurring within the organization and is routinely present in planning, field monitoring, auditing critical safety procedures (hot work, confined space, excavation, energy control, etc.), and providing immediate feedback to employees and management.
Implements safety and health programs for the organization and designs safety strategies focused on incident prevention and risk reduction.
Develops, conducts, and measures safety training and education.
Serves as Subject Matter Expert on Incident Command Systems.
Provides leadership and guidance on all safety and health programs for the organization and ensures that these programs are properly overseen and managed (e.g., life-critical programs, safety leadership, hazard recognition, contractor safety management, and occupational injury and illness reporting and management).
Assists in incident investigations and implements organizational corrective actions.
Act as a member of the Tier II Incident Management Team
Acts as a liaison to the Coast Guard
Up to 25% travel
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required with 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
Ability to identify issues and work as an independent problem solver.
Capable of managing conflict in the work environment.
Focuses on developing business acumen and technical knowledge.
A valid driver's license is required.
