Uses an appropriate problem-solving approach to plan servicesProvides cleaning support to non-patient areas without direct supervisionCleans and maintains storage areas ensuring they are free from waste and debris

Provides services with consideration of the physical, psychosocial, cultural/spiritual, and age-specific needs of those servedCleans patient rooms adequately and in a timely manner according to department guidelinesCleans exam rooms adequately and in a timely manner according to department guidelines

Uses equipment and supplies correctlyDemonstrates proper use of equipment by providing quality floor care in their assigned areasCleans and maintain department equipment used in the daily completion of job duties

Uses appropriate safety and infection control measuresWhile cleaning, the Environmental Aide checks the rooms for inoperative furnishings or fixtures, and reports problems to the department directorCollects trash and soiled linen from assigned areas, transporting to collection or disposal site

Teaches, directs, advises and informs others in an appropriate mannerThe Environmental Aide assists their supervisor with training of new employees

Reports and records information correctlyAfter cleaning patient rooms, the Environmental Aide signs off that the rooms have been cleaned and leaves a tent card in each of the roomsAnswers and responds to pages in a timely and courteous manner Responsibilities

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

Effective communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Constant exposure to chemicals; infectious situations; exposed to blood, body fluids, and their associated odors; frequent stressful situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

Medium workLifting 50 pounds maximumFrequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighting up to 25 poundsGood vision and depth perception

AGE GROUPS SERVED:  All ages from birth to senior adult.

Qualifications

Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.  Experience preferred from a professional setting.
