HR Operations & Compensation Manager
Summary
Potbelly is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Operations & Compensation Manager to oversee and lead our HR operations and compensation agenda. This role will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of all human resources processes, systems, and policies within our organization while also overseeing foundational compensation practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR operations, experience in broad-based compensation matters, a keen eye for detail, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for creating a positive and productive work environment.
Job Duties & Function
Responsibilities
HR Process Management:
Serve as day-to-day lead for HR Operations processes across employee lifecycle, including onboarding, benefits administration, employee records management, performance management, and offboarding. Serve as subject matter expert and project lead for HR processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and regulations.HRIS and Technology Management:
Manage the HR information system (HRIS) to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee data and records. Collaborate with IT teams to implement, maintain, and optimize HR technology solutions that support HR operations, including shaping and implementing the HR technology multi-year roadmap for PotbellyPolicy Development and Compliance:
Serve as lead to develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures to align with changing laws, regulations, and organizational needs. Ensure HR processes and practices are in compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.Benefits Systems Administration:
Partner closely with the internal benefits team and vendors as needed for the efficient operation of technology supporting employee benefits programs, including health, wellness, retirement plans, and other offerings. Collaborate with external vendors and the internal teams to ensure smooth execution of all total rewards-related programs through efficient and effective systems.Data Analysis and Reporting:
Partner with HRIS Specialist in the stand up of people analytics and metrics within Potbelly. Partner with HR leadership team and IT to ensure an effective suite of people insights in support of more informed decision-making and action across the organization Prepare regular reports for senior management to track key HR performance indicatorsCompensation
Lead baseline compensation practice for Potbelly including design and maintenance of pay grades, incentive practices, and supporting policies Conduct market benchmarking and analysis to ensure competitive and equitable compensation in support of Potbelly’s ability to attract and retain talent while maintaining fairness across the organization Support compensation administration of ongoing critical organizational processes including annual performance review cycles including salary adjustments, bonuses, incentive payouts and associated communications Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree a plus). A minimum of 5 years of experience in HR operations and compensation, with experience leading teams and high-impact projects. Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws. Proficiency in using HRIS systems and technology to manage HR processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and influence others of varying seniority. Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities. Strong analytical skills to interpret HR data and provide actionable insights. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, SPHR) is a plus.What You Bring to the Table
