In the Resort Enhancement team, at Disneyland® Resort, an Industrial Upholsterer position requires specialized knowledge and skills necessary to perform efficiently and with minor supervision.
This position is responsible for performing all upholstery duties necessary to restore the original appearance and quality of various upholstered objects when placed in service. Industrial Upholsterers examine broken and damaged upholstered furniture and seat cushions - located in attractions and on all motor vehicles - for the purpose of planning required repairs and ordering replacement parts and materials. This position provides support to all maintenance teams including infrastructure, facilities, and attractions for ride-and-show vehicles.
Responsibilities: Operational and FunctionalUses basic hand tools as well as the specialized tools of the upholstery trade and maintains them in proper working orderOperates pneumatic and/or electrically powered hand tools while utilizing the correct personal-protective equipmentWill be trained to operate a man-lift, scissors-lift, and forkliftMaterial HandlingIndustrial Upholsterers must lift, carry or place rolls of fabric, seats or other materials on work surfaces and material handling carts, pallets, or other fixturesPushes and pulls carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and wheeled baskets around the shop floor Basic Qualifications: You must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this roleSchedule AvailabilityMust be open to any shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including holidays, with any combination of days offTechnical Skills, Abilities, and ExperienceA minimum of two years of experience in all phases of upholstery including hand ties, block-out, measuring, and cutting for finish work, piping, blind-hand stitching, and layout of any tuck and roll or tuftingExperience using different types of sewing machines and the ability to sew by handFamiliarity with furniture and auto upholsteryAbility to make precise measurements and to fabricate patterns based on existing or non-existing articlesKnowledge of:Industry standards for foam compressions and seat allowancesTufting methodsSpring compressionsvarious types of lumber used for constructing furniturePeriod types of furniture sufficient for the purposes of duplication or improvising when requiredAbility to use basic tools required of an Upholsterer and to read and interpret blueprints and schematicsFamiliarity with pneumatic tools common to this tradeFamiliarity with, or have the ability to learn, the Computerized Maintenance Management System (“Maximo”)Must also have the ability to understand and follow checklists to safely operate department vehicles or equipment and know what actions to take in the event of an equipment failure Additional Information: Those assigned to the Industrial Upholsterer position are required to attend an annual hearing-conservation training class. They are also required to submit to an annual audiometric exam.
The pay rate for this role in California is $37.44 to $45.57 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY
Our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; Shifts may start as early as 5:00 AM, while some may end as late as 5:00 AM.
This role is Full Time and requires full availability, including working evenings, weekends and holidays when needed.
Must be open to any shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including holidays, with any combination of days off
