IT Project Manager

Job Description:

Overview:

The IT Project Manager leads the successful delivery of infrastructure technology projects, with a focus on construction-related initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience managing IT systems implementation, vendor relationships, and cross-functional coordination. Responsibilities include overseeing project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management to ensure alignment with organizational goals. The IT Project Manager applies technical expertise and leadership skills to drive projects to completion on time, within scope, and on budget while maintaining high standards for quality, compliance, and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities:


Project Management

Lead and oversee the planning, implementation, and management of IT systems and infrastructure within construction projects, ensuring they meet project requirements and contribute to the overall success of the construction project.

Develop, document, and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets, adhering to enterprise project management best practices.

Vendor Management

Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers, assisting in contract negotiations, establishing SLAs, and managing ongoing vendor relationships to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Monitor vendor performance, addressing any issues that may arise and ensuring vendors adhere to agreed-upon timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Evaluate vendor proposals, comparing options, and providing recommendations for selection based on project requirements and budget constraints.

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, including executives, IT, operations, and business units, ensuring consistent communication and alignment on project goals.

Facilitate regular project updates, status reports, and meetings to keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensure all communications are tailored for various audiences, bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Risk & Issue Management

Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle, developing contingency plans as needed to minimize impacts.

Track and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution and keep projects on track.

Conduct post-project analysis to identify improvement areas and apply lessons learned to future projects.

Resource & Budget Management

Coordinate and manage resources across internal teams, external vendors, and contractors, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with project schedules.

Track project expenses, monitor budgets, and provide financial forecasts to ensure project costs remain within approved limits.

Continuously look for opportunities to optimize resources and reduce costs without compromising project quality.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Define and uphold quality standards for all infrastructure projects, ensuring that deliverables meet defined requirements and adhere to compliance and security protocols.

Conduct quality reviews and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain high project standards.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging infrastructure technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. PMP, or similar project management certification preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in project management, with a focus on infrastructure within construction projects and vendor management. Experience with interpreting and understanding architectural and engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Technical Skills: Proficient in infrastructure technologies, including the implementation of servers, network equipment, security access control, and AV systems.  Familiarity with construction processes, building codes, and facility management practices.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and foster collaboration.

Leadership & Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, resolve complex issues, and drive projects to successful completion in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with ITIL and other IT service management frameworks.

Experience with enterprise project management tools, such as Microsoft Project.
