Overview

The Welder Journeyman is responsible for installations, alterations, additions and/or repairs of HVAC Duct systems and associated materials and equipment within the commercial and industrial sheet metal industry. Incumbent performs this work within an established time frame and ensures that this work is done in conformance with quality work standards, project man-hours and in the established company guidelines and within regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities This position is for a sheet metal duct welder.Weld 18ga stainless steel and 16ga black iron ductwork.Weld 18ga galvanized ductwork.Assist in prefabbing of any and all needed items.Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed.Maintain and properly store tools and equipment.Proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.Accurately organize materials and tools in order to maintain clean and neat work area.Has ability to erect and understand pulley systems to lift/move heavy objects.Accurately read labels, job site maps/directions, manuals and written instructions.Employee must be able to direct/train helpers & apprentices in proper work practices.Must have ability to plan and organize task in order to meet task deadlines.Ability to visualize completed work prior to installation. Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

4 or more years of experience and meets requirements.

Able to keep welding equipment and accessories in good working conditions.

Reading of blue prints and schematics.

Knowledge of welding machine (oil, fuel, etc.), torches, and helix arc equipment.

Must have a valid drivers license.

Preferred certificates in MIG, TIG, and short arc applications.

Needs to have basic tools to perform job (hood, gloves, etc.).

Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed.

Assist in safe rigging of materials for installations.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.

Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.

Must be detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

Well versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.

Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Climb ladders of all types as well as scissor lifts and boom lifts.

Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain or snow.

Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities. (Porta-Johns).

Must wear personnel protective equipment at all times. (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.

Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.

Ability to remain calm in times of heighten emotional situations.

Must work smoothly with others as a member of a team to complete tasks.

Must be able to make transition from employee parking area of street into construction areas and to gain access to all levels of the building or structure, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.

Ability to work in noisy environments.

Work in restrictive/tight areas.

Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet.

Possess good vision/hearing. (Normal or corrected).

Ability to reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.

Must have ability of use of both hands simultaneously for tying knots and in the use of power equipment.

Ability to lift by ones self-work loads of 51 lbs.

Job requires employee to have required hand tools with them at all times while at work site (Waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.).

0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Pay Range USD $24.28 - USD $32.44 /Hr.
