Job Overview:
The Lab Tech position will involve learning and performing various duties typically carried out by a lab technician. This includes, but is not limited to, operating a Cogent machine, conducting product tests, and releasing product results. The role requires the ability to collect product samples from the production line and conduct tests twice per hour when the line is running. Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with production and management teams across the plant. Basic computer proficiency in Word and Excel is required, as well as accurate data entry into these programs. The individual must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and may be required to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by lab managers, as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform chemical, physical, and microbiological tests per product specifications. Monitor the manufacturing process, identifying areas for corrective action when necessary. Ensure proper calibration of instruments and processing equipment. Oversee cleaning and maintenance of equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by lab management.

Required Qualifications:

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible with work schedules. Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team. Strong work ethic, honesty, and reliability. High school diploma or equivalent and at least 18 years of age. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel). Must pass a drug test, physical examination, and background check. Must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues. Strong analytical skills for gathering data and drawing accurate conclusions. Familiarity with biological and chemical lab equipment. Knowledge of dairy testing methods and procedures. General understanding of dairy processing and manufacturing. Familiarity with State and Federal dairy processing regulations.
