Landside Transportation Planner

As a key member of our Landside Transportation Team, you'll be immersed in projects that span every mode imaginable: private vehicles, taxis, TNCs, buses, metro rail, high-speed rail, on-airport APMs, and more. While much of our work focuses on creating seamless, efficient experiences for airport passengers and employees, we also dive into innovative studies on cargo movement and next-gen transportation technologies. This is a position which we could support from any location near a major Aviation/ Airport hub, such as LA, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Dallas, Houston, Washington DC, Tampa or Miami. **Responsibilities & Qualifications** **What You’ll Do** As a **Landside Transportation Planner** , you’ll help tackle some of the most exciting and complex planning challenges in aviation today. Your work will directly support smarter, safer, and more sustainable airport access and operations. You’ll get to: + Lead and support innovative projects focused on curbside and roadway traffic optimization, Ground Transportation Centers, parking, consolidated rental facilities, and regional multimodal connectivity. + Collaborate on forward-thinking policies, revenue strategies, and studies on the impacts and opportunities of emerging technologies. + Coordinate and manage field surveys and data collection efforts with a high degree of autonomy. + Analyze data, build models, simulate transportation systems, and contribute to big-picture planning and design concepts. + Develop compelling visuals, reports, and presentations that help bring our ideas to life. + Support project management efforts including developing scopes, budgets, and client communications. + Collaborate with a passionate, multidisciplinary team to brainstorm and implement solutions that make a real-world impact. **What You’ll Bring** + A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Transportation Planning. + 0 to 7 years of experience in a transportation, analytics, or planning-related field. + Strong analytical and spreadsheet modeling skills — you’re someone who thrives on solving puzzles with data. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills — you can make complex ideas easy to understand. + Proficiency in AutoCAD and transportation software tools like HCS, Synchro, or VISSIM. + Familiarity with planning and engineering standards such as MUTCD, AASHTO’s Green Book, and ITE Trip Generation. + A Master’s degree (preferred) or a passion for continuous learning. + Bonus points for: 3D modeling skills (e.g., SketchUp), experience with GIS/spatial analysis, or knowledge of FAR Part 77. **Why Landrum & Brown?** L&B is a collaborative, mission-driven company where your work truly matters.
