Role description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented 3D Laser Scan Operator & BIM Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-precision 3D scanning operations using advanced equipment, including NAVVIS VLX and FARO systems, on-site for various projects. Additionally, you will process and register point cloud data, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and utilize the data for BIM modeling tasks. This position is ideal for a professional with a strong background in 3D scanning technology, data processing, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Role accountabilities:
On-Site 3D Scanning Operations
Operate NAVVIS VLX and FARO laser scanning equipment to capture highly accurate 3D data of existing structures and environments. Plan and execute scanning workflows to meet project requirements, including site preparation, equipment setup, and scanning strategies. Perform quality assurance checks on collected data while on-site to ensure completeness and accuracy.Data Processing and Registration
Import, process, and register point cloud data using software such as FARO Scene, NAVVIS IVION, or other industry-standard platforms. Ensure registered data meets project specifications, resolving any discrepancies or alignment issues. Organize and archive data effectively for future reference and project use.
BIM Modeling and Integration
Use processed point cloud data to create accurate BIM models in software such as Revit and AutoCAD. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure models meet design and project expectations. Conduct quality control checks on BIM models to verify alignment with captured data and project requirements.Qualifications and Skills:
Strong knowledge of BIM modeling tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, or other related platforms. Understanding of construction, architecture, or engineering workflows is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree or certification in Geomatics, Surveying, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Experience with advanced data processing tools such as CloudCompare, Navisworks, or similar. Experience operating NAVVIS VLX, FARO, or similar 3D laser scanning equipment. Experience in point cloud processing and registration software such as FARO Scene, Cyclone, or NAVVIS IVION Cloud.Why Arcadis?
