Work Schedule: 

100% FTE, 40 hours per week. Shifts scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Hours may vary based on the needs of the clinic.

We are seeking a Lead Optician to:

Join the UW Health Eye Care Team who provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages. Oversee and mentor Optical staff.  Provide direction, coaching and motivate staff to achieve objectives and provide excellent patient care. Assist patients with selecting the right fit, shape, style of eyewear and dispense contact lenses. Perform eyeglass repairs and adjustments.

 

Education:

Minimum – High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred – 

Completion of an accredited Optician Vision Care Program Some continued education courses

 

Work Experience:

Minimum –

Computer experience required Previous eye care experience Minimum 1 year or more supervisory or leadership experience

Preferred –

One or more years optician experience Lab training or experience preferred Contact lens training or experience preferred Optical lab experience and/or optometric technician experience One or more years of work experience with processing insurance claims     Licenses & Certifications Obtain ABO Certification within 18-months or three (3) testing periods from the date of hire, and maintain the certification within 1-1/2 Yrs Required American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification and/or National Contact Lens (NCLE) Certification Preferred   Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion UW Health is committed to being a diverse, inclusive and anti-racist workplace and is an Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.
