Lead Registration Representative
Job Details:

To access patients into the hospital system. To establish a satisfactory patient-hospital relationship. To initiate the information flow and records keeping process. Be a resource person for Registration. RESPONSIBILITIES Gathers and records complete demographic and financial information to accurately identify and register or pre-register all patients into the hospital information system. Demonstrates knoweldge of complete patient processing workflow and expedites transactions to assure patient safety. Assures thorough documentation is applied on all visits. Maintains room/bed control, admissions notifications and authorization numbers (as appropriate) in cooperation with designated staff. Ensures necessary consent forms are signed and properly maintained in the record. Effectively communicates witht he patient regarding copay/deductible responsibilities at or prior to the point of service as well as furnish the patient with all required consent forms in a concise and informational manner. Assures the patient receives all required compliance documents including, but not limited to: Patient Bill of Rights, Privacy Practices, Advanced Directives, NYS Your Rights, Surprise Bill Disclosure and the Observation Notice, among others. Reviews registration error reports, incomplete registrations and other designated transaction reports and system dictionaries, correcting and communicating errors accordingly to supervisor and/or upper management. Communicates opportunities for improvement for data capture and accuracy to upper management. Maintains and shares current knowledge of insurance regulations, payer billing sequences, proper documentation and copay collection efforts with ER staff members, providing accurate references to current policies and procedures. Recognizes and analyzes customer needs and expectations, accommodating patients and families in ways that facilitate efficient registrations with high levels of customer service. Promotes/portrays a high level of professionalism, both technically and personally. Possesses strong work ethic and exhibits optimism. Adheres to the departmental dress code policy and maintains a professional appearance and positive attitude. Promotes positive relationships with other departments, patients, clinicians, physicans, and support staff to enhance services to our patients. Communicates effectively within the department and between shifts in an effort to keep staff informed. Performs other related duties as assigned by Department Management. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE Data entry and keyboard skills required. 10 years experience in Registration EDUCATION High School Diploma LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS 4-6 weeks. Up to 6 months learning time
