Description
Our client is an established and respected law firm specializing in plaintiff-side employment law. They are seeking a skilled litigation secretary/jr. paralegal to join their team. They are devoted to advocating for employees facing workplace injustices, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage-and-hour violations.
Responsibilities:
+ Accurately prepare and electronically file court documents in state and federal courts, ensuring all filings comply with applicable rules and deadlines.
+ Manage deadlines, hearings, and appointments in the firm’s case calendar system, ensuring attorneys are fully briefed and prepared.
+ Efficiently draft and format TOAs/TOCs for court filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
+ Organize and prepare case materials for trial, including exhibit binders, witness files, and trial notebooks, while coordinating logistics with the legal team.
+ Draft, proofread, and finalize general correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents. Maintain case records and ensure all files are current and organized.
+ Serve as the point of contact for clients, providing updates and relaying information to attorneys in a professional and empathetic manner.
+ Assist attorneys with scheduling, expense reports, travel arrangements, mail handling, and other office management duties as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ At least 2 years of experience as a legal secretary, with strong preference for experience in plaintiff employment law or civil litigation.
+ Skilled in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal calendaring software. Familiarity with e-filing systems for California state and federal courts is essential.
+ Solid understanding of legal terminology, formats, and court requirements, particularly around TOAs/TOCs, filing procedures, and trial documentation.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high accuracy and meeting strict deadlines.
+ Professional demeanor when interacting with clients, court staff, and attorneys. Strong verbal and written communication is essential.
