Job Summary

\n

The Librarian offers reference and online searching services to healthcare professionals, students, faculty, and staff. These services use the library's resources to aid medical diagnosis, patient treatment, research, and education. The Librarian coordinates and provides expertise through instruction, outreach, evidence-based research, point of care support, and systematic reviews.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nSupports healthcare professionals, students, faculty, and staff by providing reference and online searching services. Maintains accurate records of online searches performed.\nParticipates in developing and implementing user education programs. This includes in-person and online instruction, handouts, website content, and individual and group instruction.\nParticipates in collection development activities. Reviews resources and makes recommendations to the Library Director for additions to the collection.\nCoordinates outreach activities to provide orientations and marketing of library services and resources.\nActs as backup to facilitate interlibrary borrowing and lending activities and maintains appropriate records.\nPerforms other positions appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.\n\n

Key Success Factors

\n\nMaster’s in library science from an American Library Association accredited program with 3 years of experience in a library setting.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Office products to include: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.\nFamiliarity with online databases, books, and journals.\nAbility to research, examine, and disseminate information.\nMust be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.\nAbility to provide consistently excellent customer service with empathy, patience, and confidence.\nAbility to establish and maintain effective professional relationships across organizational lines.\n\n
