Job Description:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience requiredCertified Public Accountant License preferred

Work Experiences:

5+ years of work experience in indirect tax requiredExperience managing and supervising direct reports requiredExperience with Vertex or comparable software preferred

Skills:

Ability to plan and coordinate all aspects of the audit and post audit protestsAbility to identify technical and legal issues and defend adverse findingsHigh level of tax research capabilities to determine tax issues prior to entering a marketStrong understanding of accounting systems and ability to assist in software integration as needed to maintain the integrity of the indirect tax processAbility to manage and development professional staffAbility to interact effectively with other departments and outside consultants in a professional mannerProject oriented for completion of compliance filings; improvement of existing processes and technologies; collaborating and leading in identification, design and implementation of new processes and technologiesAbility to analyze, articulate, and solve problems and concepts to make effective business decisionsAbility to remain organized and prioritize workload to meet multiple deadlines in frequently changing environmentStrong interpersonal, written, verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levelsProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Accounting, and Tax Research Software skillsAcceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties

Responsibilities:

Manage the tax compliance process and ensure timely filing in all jurisdictionsResearch and provide resolution to issues with respect to indirect taxesResolve tax disputes with taxing authoritiesEffectively maintain and execute internal control processes and proceduresReview all work prepared by indirect tax analyst and staffEnsure the implementation and adherence to all tax policies and proceduresReview the organization and preparation of all tax work papers and schedules as necessaryPrepare correspondence with any and all taxing authorities, as neededMaintain tax knowledge by studying new tax regulations and directives; obtain tax opinions and interpretations; attend seminars; study proposed tax legislationManage indirect tax audits; gather the necessary data to support transactions or tax positions; follow through to completionContribute to a team effort and atmosphere by accomplishing results as neededActively contribute to the professional development of each indirect tax team member that is a direct reportMaintain internal control documentation, effectively perform assigned internal controls, remediate internal control exceptions, and respond to internal and external audit requests.Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rulesDuties may change; team members may be required to perform other duties as assignedDevelop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rulesResponsibilities may change; team members may be required to perform other tasks as assigned
