Manager Landscaping

The Manager Landscaping will provide the day-to-day direction to landscaping staff and operations of the site on behalf of Medxcel throughout the assigned working locations of St. Vincents Indianapolis Hospital - Indianapolis, IN. Coordinates the procurement and scheduled use of resources, including labor, equipment and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget, safety guidelines and quality standards. Promotes the growth and development of field staff and assists them in carrying out their responsibilities as needed. This position supervises 10 – 25 employees, possibly more seasonal employees as needed, and may be called upon to lend support to landscaping activities for the entire Company. Responsibilities Administrative & Training: Manages and schedules labor, equipment and materials to accomplish production schedules within established budgets. Maintains strict adherence to established schedules and budgets. Understands Medxcel Facilities Management Landscaping Handbook and the SOW (Scope of Work) and ensures services are completed and maintains customers complete satisfaction. Ensures all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and guidelines. Investigates any accident or safety violation, prepares appropriate reports, takes action steps to correct and prevent future occurrences. Defines and implements solutions to reoccurring accidents or most common hazards. Order materials, equipment, and supplies as needed within purchasing limits. Overall human resource management of landscaping staff within the division. Includes hiring, firing, training, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to reach potential and established goals for the individual and division. Identify and develop Leaders. Maintains sufficient staff to accomplish production schedules and analyzes future needs, forecasting staff, and material needs to complete future jobs. Conducts timely performance reviews of direct reports and takes corrective actions when appropriate. Coordinates the use of labor, equipment, materials, and other resources with other facilities within the division when appropriate. Respond to customer complaints ensuring proper handling to achieve excellent customer satisfaction. Maintain day-to-day working knowledge of all contracts in progress, including field completion status. Maintains costs within all assigned budgets. Plans and organizes snow removal during the winter months. Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Provides additional support and training to Landscaping Technicians as needed. General Landscaping: Visit job sites on a regular basis, observing organization of work, identifying and resolving training issues, and taking necessary actions to ensure quality. Operates a variety of mechanical equipment including but not limited to mowers, back hoes, bobcats, dingos, tillers, sod cutters, weed eaters, plant augers, chain saws, and drills. Operates non-CDL automatic and manual vehicles, such as dump trucks and truck and trailer combinations. Maintains a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, field offices and customer work sites. Stay aware of Best Practices. Develop and recommend improved work methods and standards. Other duties as assigned. Chemical Treatments: Diagnoses pest issues, makes recommendations, and/or takes remedial action as directed by standard company policy or management. Diagnoses other site problems and makes recommendations for their improvement. Special Projects: Assist and participate in special projects as assigned. Assist and support the Facilities Maintenance staff on projects as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field OR at least eight (8) years landscaping experience in lieu of degree -required. License/Certification: Valid state driver’s license - required. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - preferred. Pesticide certification - preferred. Experience: Five years experience in the Landscaping field - required. Three years supervisory experience - required. Three years experience in business management, including basic accounting skills - required. Ten years experience in the Landscaping field - preferred. #MFMLNDSP
