Managing Director - Commercial Underwriter / Portfolio Manager Health Care Finance

Responsible for leading the credit origination and underwriting of new loans for portfolio clients and manage portfolio relationships.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate with BU Head and Relationship Managers with all facets of underwriting and closing senior debt financings and related credit requests for new and existing customer relationships.Consult and partner with Relationship Managers in recommending loan structure, preparation of financing proposals, and negotiation of terms with clients.Prepare high quality, detailed credit approval documents containing an in-depth analysis and understanding of the transaction, customer, industry, and market trends/fundamentals identifying key issues and risks.Spearhead transaction process and lead all diligence activities, prepare financial models, prepare pre-screen and final credit approval documents requests in accordance with the bank’s credit policies and procedures; present and lead credit committee discussion, manage all facets of transaction closing with product partners (Treasury, Portfolio, Operations), coordinate with Loan Syndication in managing lender syndicate.Assist in training and development of credit analysts and underwriters; develop skills and knowledge of team members through effective coaching and professional development opportunities.  Continuously improve the quality and consistency of the team's underwriting and portfolio management activities.Manage an assigned portfolio of loan accounts, maintain deep understanding of client business, industry trends and markets, pro-actively monitor client financial performance and risk profile and credit risk grade, respond to client credit requests, advocate appropriate actions to BU Head and Senior Credit Officers.Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Webster credit products and services, and the ability to form trusted and consultative relationships with clients.

Education, Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; MBA a plus10 plus years in commercial banking, commercial finance, private creditHealthcare industry experienceGreat interpersonal skills with ability to interface with relationship managers, portfolio managers, senior credit officers, clients, and senior management.Proven ability to manage and cultivate client relationshipsWell organized and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environmentStrong commercial lending experience, formal credit training or experience in senior underwriter roleStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong corporate finance, credit analytical skills, and proficiency in financial statement analysisProficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

The estimated salary range for this position is $175,000.00 to $215.00.00. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
