**SCOPE OF ROLE:**
The IDEX Optical Technologies, Rochester Semicon Business Line is looking for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer with a passion for solving problems and collaborating with teams. In this role the Manufacturing Quality Engineer supports production through application of technical skills to optimize manufacturing processes for maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality. Effectively identifying opportunities and determining priorities for improvement. Additionally, this role will be responsible for quality activities related to internal and external customers.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES:**
• Establishes, follows, and enforces all safety regulations
• Work as an effective team member with engineering, operations, supply chain and commercial team colleagues to address customer Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), internal quality Non-conformance Reporting (NCRs), and supplier quality corrective action requests (SCARs)
• Perform internal audits and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) to mitigate and control quality issues.
•Responsible for the completion of First Article Inspection (FAI) reports initiated either by customer purchase order or as part of Change Control verification and management.
• Responds to production product / process non-conformities, assisting production technicians as part of issue escalation
• Design inspection techniques using proper inspection tools and testing equipment
• Familiar with modern risk and quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, and Statistical techniques.
• Work with Operations and Engineering to increase efficiency through the improvement of in-house and supplier manufacturing processes, and product quality/reliability.
• Identifies and drives continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
Creates metrics to track process capability and improvement
• Utilizes data analysis techniques to prioritize solutions
• Developing and managing KPI's, databases and countermeasures as required for continuous improvements
• Owner of Material Review Board activities, including feedback to suppliers.
• Owner of the Root-Cause and Counter Measure Process
• Effectively communicates change at all levels in organization
• Other duties as assigned.
**OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:**
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings, including GD&T
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interface with all levels of the organization
• Collect, compile, and understand basic mathematical calculations and statistical data
• Ability to effectively use software tools such as Matlab, Python, Minitab, JMP, PowerBI
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma
• Experience using optical manufacturing/test equipment such as interferometers, power meters, autocollimators
• Understanding of scientific method to solve problems
• Organized, motivated, approachable
• Demonstrated ability to identify process Improvement opportunities
• Understanding of manufacturing processes of mechanical and optical components preferred
• ASQ CQE Certification preferred
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
• 5+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing capacity
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field

**Total Rewards**
The compensation range for this position is $76,200.00 - $114,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
