Position Summary: The Materials Manager is responsible for optimizing supply to achieve customer experience, sales and cost goals. This position is responsible for all materials replenishment processes, production planning, procurement, warehouse operations (receiving, material handling and shipping), inventory (policy and execution) and the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. The Materials Manager engages with sales, marketing and the business unit leadership to ensure the supply chain strategy is aligned to the business strategy and supports customer expectations for lead time and service levels. The Materials Manager engages the broader operations and procurement teams to make recommendations on supply chain design to drive overall supply chain effectiveness and efficiency. Responsibilities: + Prioritizes personal safety and the safety of the plant, actively contributes to the reporting of safety observations, and fostering a culture of safety awareness, resulting in zero workplace accidents. + Effectively manages and leads a diverse team of exempt and hourly employees, ensuring clear communication, performance accountability, and adherence to company policies and execute the supply chain strategy. + Leads all procurement activities, including placing POs, monitoring supplier performance, acting as an escalation point for issues and ensuring corporate policies are adhered to. + Ensures materials replenishment processes (Consignment, VMI, Kanban, MRP) are properly defined and executed to ensure materials availability. + Schedules production to ensure we are meeting customer’s request dates and meeting inventory targets. + Monitors demand signals to identify changes and assess their impact to materials replenishment strategies and production plans. + Develops inventory policies that achieve supply chain objectives in support of the business strategy. + Monitors inventory positions against policy to ensure optimum inventory levels to meet customer service goals and freight goals. + Ensures the effective and efficient operation of all warehouse processes including picking orders, shipping, freight spend, and cycle counting. + Supports the resolution of import compliance issues. + Engages with the warehouse team to support the ongoing identification and implementation of improvement ideas. + Actively contributes to high-performance teams, fosters a lean culture, and engages in activities to drive impactful change. + Ensures the integrity of all MRP system planning parameters. Qualifications: + Minimum of 5 years applicable purchasing/materials management experience in manufacturing environment. + Extensive managerial experience materials management systems including supply chain management. + Four-year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required. + Certification in APICS/CPM certification preferred. + Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities. + Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts. + Working knowledge of Microsoft PC software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, databases and presentations).
