Job Description
As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for producing moderately complex drawings of parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and weldments with limited supervision. You will prepare bills of materials, routes, and other documentation for custom jobs within the company ERP system, generating 3D CAD models and detailed drawings of new and existing enclosure designs. Collaboration with manufacturing engineering and technicians is essential to optimize designs and ensure that drawings convey accurate information and are error-free. Your role will involve working directly with customer care to ensure customer product specifications are applied to work orders and transforming initial rough product designs from customers into working documents using CAD.
ResponsibilitiesCreate approval drawings for customer review.Maintain CAD data and corresponding documents in the data management system.Process engineering change requests, updating all applicable documents to current company standards.Adhere to and apply current industry drafting standards for detailed drawings.Analyze documentation to identify and correct missing information, ensuring all specifications are accurately presented.Review documentation from other team members for accuracy and consistency.Use and apply basic mechanical fits, tolerances, GD&T principles, and stack-ups to new and existing products.Essential SkillsProficiency in SolidWorks.Experience in drafting and design, up to 5 years.Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers.Knowledge and application of industry drafting standards (ASME Y14.5) and manufacturing processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsTwo-year technical degree.Knowledge of sheet metal design preferred.Proficiency in common office software applications.Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy.Effective workload organization and planning skills.Work Environment
The work environment is collaborative and involves working closely with various departments in the plant. The role requires the use of CAD software and the ERP system. The designer should be able to maintain high standards of accuracy and organization while working independently to complete projects on time.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
