Medical Assistant - Back OfficeJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our back office team, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate patient records utilizing Medent as EMR. You will provide essential information to patients regarding treatments, medications, and post-procedure care, ensuring a seamless healthcare experience.
ResponsibilitiesUpdate and maintain accurate patient medical histories and records.Provide patients with information on treatments, medications, and post-procedure care.Work with healthcare providers to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient office operations.Assist with patient examinations, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for procedures.Log medications, reconcile with pharmacy for medications, and update computer systems for MRI, CAT scan, and other requests.Complete return to gym and sports notes; input script into EMR and call facilities for STATs.Prepare patient charts ahead of scheduled appointments and confirm missing patient forms for printing.Handle scheduling and rescheduling appointments, supporting call center operations when necessary.Support fax machine operations between offices and add files to patient records.Schedule face-to-face appointments with patients upon leaving their previous appointment.Verify patient insurance coverage and collect copayments.Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.Process insurance claims, create invoices, and manage patient accounts.Essential SkillsExperience with EMR systems, specifically Medent.Previous experience as a Medical Assistant.Knowledge of medical assisting and insurance procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsCertification preferred, but not required; outdated/expired certifications are acceptable.Insurance knowledge from previous roles is a plus.Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, either from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with one evening shift per week from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The evening shift will be scheduled in advance and will follow a routine. *Employees will work one weekend around once a quarter based on staffing needs. You will be expected to cover all sites, including Randolph, Sparta, Hackettstown, Morristown, and Cedar Knolls. A routine will be established, but flexibility is required to cover any site as needed. The role is expected to be 40 hours per week, and consultants must stay until the last patient leaves. The position involves significant face-to-face interaction with patients, processing 20-40 patients a day, depending on provider rotation, with approximately one patient every 15 minutes. The work environment is supportive and collaborative, with providers eager to teach and friendly.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
