The role you’ll contribute:
The Nurse Manager (NM) of ICU and CCU is a registered professional nurse who has the most direct impact on the care and services that patients and families require throughout their hospital experience. The NM reports directly to the Director of ICU and CCU and is responsible for the continual operation of specified nursing unit(s). The NM is able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, creativity, and has the knowledge to manage resources to achieve quality performance, positive employee relations, and compliance with hospital guidelines. The NM is skilled in coaching, motivating, mentoring, and leading a professional and technical team in the delivery of services for our patient population. The NM assures quality of care is delivered for our patients and demonstrates effective stewardship of scarce resources. The NM is the change agent for the assigned areas of responsibility and are responsible for implementing any changes that the unit is required to undergo. The NM actively participates in outstanding customer service, including service to patients, families, physicians, and other contacts, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful.

· Deliver patient centered nursing care using the SHARE/ Whole Care principles to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
· Establishes a compassionate environment by providing physical, emotional and spiritual support to the patients, their families and staff members.
· Provides quality care by adhering to Standards of Practice, measuring health outcomes against patient centered goals.
· Utilize multidisciplinary team strategies to achieve quality outcomes.
· Protects patients and team members by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
· Maintains patients’ confidence and protects their health information.
· Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by effectively communicating information, responding to request, building rapport, participating in team problem solving methods.
· Has knowledge of and understands current TJC Standards for the clinical aspect of the department.
· Advocates for the patients and promotes healthy teamwork with the multidisciplinary team.
· Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing policies, procedures and best practice.
· Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, helping with the orientation process and training.
· Maintains nursing staff accountabilities by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
· Maintains budget and productivity on the clinical units.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
Minimum qualifications :
· Registered Nurse with an Associate’s Degree, licensed to practice in the state of Texas or qualifying compact state
· Basic Life Support (BLS)
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
· National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
· 2 years of Critical Care or Stepdown Experience
