Office Coordinator
Job Details:

The Office Coordinator will support the laboratory team with secretarial and administrative support for services assisting the Pathology staff members.

Responsibilities:

Performs duties which includes clerical and administrative functions, answering phones, taking memos, accessing and printing reports, faxing reports or requests etc. Functions as a liaison between pathology, patients and medical providers. Receives and triages messages and issues to the appropriate person in a professional manner. Follows up with patients, physicians, clinical departments to ensure optimum delivery of services. Maintains documentation for regulatory purposes.Monitors proficiency testing processing and completion for the department. Facilitates process of requesting additional testing from reference laboratory as per pathologist request. Routes cases to reference labs and consulting facilities as requested and follow up on cases sent. Scans test results from reference labs and reports form consulting facilities into patient chart. Maintains pending reports from outside institution and/or request additional material for continued workup as per pathologist. Monitors pending final reports. Understands to perform all responsibilities within LIS as needed. Ensures adequate inventory of supplies. Adheres to hospital and laboratory policy and procedure regarding infection control, safety, hazardous chemicals, disaster, dress code and patient confidentiality.Completes additional special projects as assigned by administration. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare environment is required.

Education: Associate’s required, bachelor’s preferred.
