Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team in Birmingham, Alabama. This role focuses on estate planning, tax preparation, and trust administration, offering an opportunity to work closely with attorneys on a variety of legal matters. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional organizational skills, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, and a commitment to client service.
Responsibilities:
• Draft estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives.
• Prepare and file estate and gift tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax regulations.
• Assist with the creation and administration of charitable gift planning documents, including those for public charities and private foundations.
• Gather and organize financial records for estate and trust administration, including preparing detailed accountings and inventories.
• Manage probate filings and provide support in probate litigation cases.
• Conduct legal research on estate, trust, and tax planning topics to support attorneys in case preparation.
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, provide updates, and address inquiries under attorney supervision.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all aspects of estate, tax, and trust matters.
• Assist in forming and documenting family limited partnerships, closely-held corporations, and LLCs for business succession planning.
• Provide litigation support by organizing exhibits, preparing summaries, and assisting with discovery procedures. Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably in estate planning but will consider people with adjacent or transferrable legal experience as well.
• Proficiency in drafting estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and healthcare directives.
• Strong knowledge of estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax preparation and planning.
• Experience in probate filings and estate/trust administration.
• Familiarity with charitable gift planning and corporate governance for family entities.
• Ability to conduct thorough legal research and provide analytical support.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a client-focused mindset.
• High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
