Job Description
In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title of City Planner, or be reachable on the open -competitive list for City Planner, Exam #1112, or eligible under the 55a program.
The Parking Planning and Policy Group is seeking two candidates to fill the role of Parking Planner. In this role, the selected candidate, under direction by senior planners will be charged with examining parking issues at a neighborhood level and working with various internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions and innovative approaches to improving the efficiency of the curb in commercial and retail areas across New York City.
The individual will be primarily tasked with conducting parking studies, evaluating on-street parking regulations and performance, and developing recommendations to improve upon current operations, reviewing curbside impacts of DOT projects. As Parking Planner, the candidate will be responsible for assisting in the collection and maintenance of parking metrics, analyzing such information to inform parking management recommendations, reviewing technical drawings and plans to understand curbside impacts, prepare documents, reports, presentations, and other materials as needed.
The selected candidate will provide much needed support to help with growing Parking-relevant work:
- Parking regulation changes associated with Street Improvement Projects (e.g., reviewing changes to metered. infrastructure as part of new projects like bike lanes and recommending complementary meter and parking changes).
- Parking-specific analyses and changes associated with citywide programs like the upcoming Central Business District Tolling Program (congestion pricing) and continued talks about a citywide meter rate increase.
- New requirements from the City Council-mandated DOT Streets Plan that affect metered parking and the proactive planning from the Parking unit.
- Existing OneNYC requirements associated with implementing a program of Parking Improvement Projects throughout the city.
- New requirements from the City Council-mandated loading bill, requiring loading zone implementation across New York City's metered corridors.

Hours/Shift: 35 hrs. / M-F / TBD

In order to be considered for this position, the candidate must be serving permanently in the title of City Planner, or reachable on the Open Competitive City Planner Civil Service List Exam #1112, or eligible under the 55a program.
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning; or
2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to “1"" above. Graduate
education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree.
Special Qualification Requirements
Assignment Level III
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in "2" above.
Assignment Level IV
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, two additional years of professional experience as described in "2" above.
