Overview St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital are proud members of Catholic Health and have served the residents of the Smithtown area for more than 50 years. St. Catherine's is located on the north shore of Long Island in Smithtown. The campus is comprised of a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation care center; 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital and a 60,000 square foot medical office building. We work collaboratively to provide compassionate care and utilize evidence based practice to improve outcomes – to every resident and patient, every time Job Details POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Graduate with courses in typing, bookkeeping and other commercial courses required. One to two years of additional course work in accounting-bookkeeping at the business college level is highly desirable. Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and insurance required. Must have troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently. Experience: Computer experience required. Three to five years’ experience required. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs monthly review of designated payer accounts Processing of mail/EOB’s for the facility Verified residents insurance coverage payments, responsible for family member and inputs information in facility database Documents progress on designated payer in the facility account receivables notes Addresses issues/concerns that arise with payer/accounts in a timely manner Telephone communications/places required collection calls on past due accounts Prepares accounts for collections department and/or submits to the write off list for bad debt Miscellaneous business office duties Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident and staff information Deal tactfully with residents, families and general public Carry out the spirit and Mission of Catholic Health Services of Long Island Adhere to Dress code as outlines in SCNH policy Knowledge and adherence to SCNH policies as outlined in Employee Handbook Maintain good attendance Maintain consistent punctuality Adhere to rest period and meal period time frames Follow proper fire safety and evacuation procedures Knowledge and adherence to SCNH Sexual Harassment and Workplace Violence policies Knowledge and adherence to OSHA and Hazard Communication policies and is familiar with location of MSDS information pertinent to position held Understand and report all resident/patient/family concerns or grievances in accordance with SCNH procedures Employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable institutional policies and procedures for patient privacy. In addition, employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the CHS Security policies and procedures Employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with all Compliance Assurance Standards and maintains a supportive attitude towards the mission and goals of Catholic Health Services. Employee performs related duties as assigned and unrelated duties as requested Oversee staff and assign tasks as required Review accounts and ensure that collection functions are being performed by staff Review billing and difficult accounts and provide guidance for staff Salary Range USD $27.00 - USD $28.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
