Payroll Coordinator

This position also reviews payroll processed by Payroll Coordinators prior to posting and serves as a backup to the Payroll Supervisor when needed. In addition to core responsibilities, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to cross-train with our Payroll Tax department, gaining valuable experience in payroll tax processing and filing activities. A DAY IN THE LIFE Review time sheets and follow up with associates who are missing time. Process weekly & bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union associates Balance weekly & bi-weekly reports associated with the processing of payroll Track guaranteed bonus payouts Enter and ensure accuracy of all withholding orders, garnishments and tax levy’s Process labor related job cost transfers Process separation calculations for terminated associates. Work with associates to answer all payroll-related questions Assist Payroll Supervisor with various projects NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS Experience with Canada and United States payroll processing Certified Payroll report preparation and tracking Minimum five (5) years of related multi-state payroll experience preferred. Previous experience with multi-state payroll taxes preferred. Knowledge of state reciprocity, W2’s, and withholding taxes required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential information. Able to work in fast paced environment. Ability to prioritize workload to meet processing deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (with an emphasis on Excel). Ability to work independently, multi-task, and demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Prior union payroll experience considered a plus. Familiarity with Viewpoint by Vista software is considered a plus.
