Payroll Tax Manager
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Tax Manager to oversee payroll tax compliance for a workforce of approximately 20,000 employees across North America. This role focuses on ensuring adherence to tax regulations, internal policies, and key controls while fostering a seamless employee experience. Based in Lake Forest, Illinois, this hybrid role requires on-site presence 2-3 days a week. Responsibilities: • Manage all aspects of payroll compliance, including payroll taxes, garnishments, and adherence to updated tax laws. • Oversee and ensure timely resolution of employee inquiries related to payroll tax and compliance through ServiceNow cases. • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of payroll tax processes. • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. • Maintain and update standard operating procedures for the payroll tax team to ensure accuracy and consistency. • Collaborate with the Payroll Director to address and resolve payroll tax and compliance issues proactively. • Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll tax matters, including state, local, and provincial setups. • Manage quarterly payroll tax balancing and support the Payroll Director in ensuring a smooth year-end process. • Train, mentor, and support payroll tax team members to enhance their skills and performance. • Continuously seek opportunities for process optimization and improvement. Benefits, Medical, Dental, Vision PTO 401K Salary: 110K - 140K Requirements • A minimum of 8 years of payroll tax experience across multiple tax jurisdictions. • Hands-on experience with Canadian payroll is required. • Proficiency with systems such as ADP, SAP, and other payroll-related platforms. • Proven ability to lead and supervise team members while effectively collaborating as part of a team. • Strong coaching, mentoring, and problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues efficiently. • Experience with accounting software systems such as BlackLine and CCH ProSystem Fx is preferred. • Solid understanding of labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll controls. • Demonstrated ability to manage audits, ensure compliance, and maintain accurate documentation.
