Job Summary

The Canton Therapies Department is located at 1051 North Canton Center Rd in Canton, MI 48187.  We are a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic that provides physical and occupational therapy services as well as speech and language pathology services for individuals with impairments due to acute and chronic neurological, orthopedic, pelvic health, spine, vestibular, and general rehab conditions.  We provided a broad spectrum of care for patients and families requiring limited, one-time therapy services, to those who require complex episodic care.

The employee is expected to provide direct patient care designed to restore and maximize function by utilizing evidence-based examination, evaluation, and treatment interventions all while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Required Qualifications*If licensed prior to 2016: Bachelor?s degree in Physical Therapy or basic MS.If licensed on or after 2016: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT).Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Internship.Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan.This position requires Primary Source VerificationDesired Qualifications*

 Experience with outpatient neurological rehabilitative care along with health promotion and wellness in treating any or all the following diagnoses across the rehabilitation spectrum is preferred: 

Spinal Cord InjuryAmputeeStrokeMultiple SclerosisCerebral PalsyParkinson's DiseaseGait/Balance ProblemsVestibular DisordersChronic pain and pain syndromesFunctional Neurological DisorderA strong orthopedic/manual therapy foundation is also desired when treating complex patients with multiple comorbidities.

 Work Schedule

This is a full-time 40-hour, 5 day per week position.  Clinic hours of operation are 7A-7P Monday through Friday requiring closing shifts.  Applicants must have availability to work within the hours of operation Monday-Friday.  Currently, there are no weekend requirements.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
