Practice Details

Black Hills Surgical Hospital is seeking BE/BC Orthopedic Surgeon, fellowship trained in Sports Medicine to the practice in Rapid City, SD.
• Schedule: Monday-Friday
• Call is 1 in 3 call rotation for pain clinic patients
• 30-40 patients per day in clinic
• Mixed inpatient and outpatient care
• Medication management and procedural cases
• Recommend and implement treatment options, such as:
-Interventional Pain Management
-Ultrasound-guided injections
-Neuropathic pain
-EMG and botulinum toxin injections for headache
-Cervical Dystonia and Spasticity
• Manage patients' medication and follow up on its efficacy and risk
• New fellows are encourged to apply

Job Description

Orthopedic Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care for patients of all ages - except where specifically excluded from practice. At least 70% of time in practice involves the nonsurgical treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways:
An applicant who has just completed a residency or Fellowship shall provide his/her residency or
Fellowship log.
OR
An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from
hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24
months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and
other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery
procedures in the last 24 months.
OR
If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has
privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months
is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures
in the last 24 months.

More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.


Successful completion of a hospital affiliated orthopedic surgical residency program or a clinical Fellowship of at least five years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency. Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than the above may be considered by the; Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors.

Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. For those applicants that are not board certified at the time of application, but who have completed their residency training within the last five years; must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless appropriate governing Board (Refer to each entities policy for grandfather exceptions) waives such requirement.

Compensation
