Piping Specialist
Vacancy Overview Piping Specialist – Charenton-le-Pont (Paris), France

Brief job description:

•            Maintain and update reference piping classes and piping components (valves, filters, etc.) in collaboration with the Piping Material Engineering Community.
•            Provide technical expertise in the field.
•            Contribute to the development and implementation of technical conventions in coordination with the Procurement Department.
•            Qualify products and suppliers.
•            Monitor applicable standards and technologies in the field.
•            Stay up to date with technical evolutions (state-of-the-art, regulations, methodologies, tools).
•            Provide project support for piping class-related activities.


Key responsibilities and main tasks:

•            Select, prepare, and update project-specific piping classes based on the standard reference classes.
•            Inform related teams (P&ID, CAD, Projects, etc.) of updates in the valve database.
•            Manage the list of piping class change requests made by installation contractors (registration, tracking, etc.).
•            Review the list of manual valves and accessories.
•            Review specifications of components not included in piping classes (filters, steam traps, etc.).
•            Contribute to the approval of outsourced services (documentation, equipment acceptance, etc.).
•            Ensure compliance with oxygen system rules (as defined by the oxygen specialist).
•            Train non-specialists in the domain.
•            Recommend solutions based on total cost of ownership (TCO).
•            Optimize piping classes in compliance with codes and standards.
•            Contribute to defining and updating technical conventions.
•            Validate OEVT (oxygen equipment) packages and participate as an oxygen expert.
•            Identify and validate new potential suppliers.
•            Maintain and update existing standards (based on technical and economic developments and alignment with other standards).
•            Develop new standards necessary for engineering activities (Engineering Practice, Administrative Practice, Design Standards, General Specifications, etc.).
•            Analyze non-conformities and issues found during design or operation; implement corrective actions and ensure traceability.
•            Participate in the development and validation of calculation tools (pipe thickness, reinforcement of branches, etc.).
•            Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders regarding piping classes.
•            Prepare specifications (datasheets) for special piping components (MS/special parts).


The experience shall include:

•            Mandatory expertise with Smart Plant Reference Data Manager and Smart Plant Materials, with at least 2 years of experience.
•            Proficiency level: Confirmed.
