The primary purpose of the Manager, Political Programs is to grow and maintain Lowe's Companies, Inc. Political Action Committee (LOWPAC), strengthen LOWPAC membership and associate engagement, develop PAC strategy, and creatively communicate knowledge of the federal and state political and legislative process to current and prospective PAC members. In addition, the Manager, in coordination with the Senior Director, Federal Government Affairs – Federal and Directors of State & Local Government Affairs, will be expected to prepare and maintain federal and state PAC budgets, develop PAC reports for internal and external use, execute Federal Election Commission (FEC) compliance responsibilities, and run the day-to-day of LOWPAC. The Manager will work closely with the Government Affairs team to represent LOWPAC to associates through written and in-person communications. This person will be expected to both present to company executives in smaller settings and also engage larger audiences at corporate events. Further, the Manager will propose, prepare for, and execute recurring programs that allow the Government Affairs team to host government officials, community organizations, or equivalent participants at Lowe's facilities. This role requires an ability to identify opportunities that align business priorities with public policy goals and implement the relevant engagements by developing strategic content, overseeing logistics, and preparing materials, such as briefing documents and talking points. This position requires a proven highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. This Manager can drive team objectives by anticipating needs, thinking critically and creatively, and working collaboratively. To cultivate effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. The manager will influence others with strong interpersonal skills, judgement, and political acumen. An ideal candidate has an understanding of government affairs, external advocacy, and communications tactics. This role is based in Washington, DC.
What you will do
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Business Administration or related field.5-7 Years Experience in program or project management, particularly for political programs and Political Action Committees (PAC) at the state and federal levels5-7 Years Experience defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics5-7 Years Professional experience in strategizing, planning, executing policy-related events with government officials and agencies, community organizations, companies, trade associations, or equivalent organizations5-7 Years Managing multiple large projects simultaneously in Fortune 500 corporate environment.5-7 Years Vendor management Leadership experience – directly or indirectly, managing subject matter expert and non-subject matter expert vendorsDemonstrated work experience with federal elected officials, political parties, companies, consultancies, trade associations, governmental agencies, or equivalent organizations.Preferred Qualifications:
Master's DegreeExperience with a PAC that has an emphasis of giving to state and/or local political candidates in multiple states.Government affairs experience in the retail industry.About Lowe’s
