Principal Software Quality Engineer - Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic)

The Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) team is seeking a Senior Software Quality Engineer to join our Cluster API (CAPI) team. In this key role, you'll help ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of our cluster management solutions, which are critical to Red Hat customers worldwide.
You’ll work on the Cluster API Operator and associated providers (CAPA, CAPZ, etc.), contributing to Red Hat ACM’s enterprise-grade Kubernetes management capabilities. This position offers an opportunity to make a visible impact by upholding the highest quality standards and mentoring others on the team.
What You Will Do
+ Ensure that the CAPI Operator and related components meet Red Hat’s enterprise-grade standards for quality, performance, usability, and supportability.
+ Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites and frameworks; evaluate existing tools and processes to drive improvements.
+ Create and review detailed test plans and contribute to product planning activities with meaningful input and feedback.
+ Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather customer use cases and translate them into effective quality strategies.
+ Lead root cause analysis for complex issues across multiple subsystems and guide other engineers through resolution processes.
+ Act as a key decision-maker in planning and triage meetings; ensure QE deliverables are met and aligned with team goals.
+ Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for quality engineering best practices.
+ Contribute upstream and represent the team by giving technical presentations at conferences or internal events.
What You Will Bring
+ Significant experience in quality engineering, preferably in cloud-native or Kubernetes-based environments.
+ Deep understanding of test automation frameworks and quality tooling; ability to conduct code reviews and implement best practices.
+ Expertise in Linux environments and solid scripting/coding skills (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
+ Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex software issues across multiple layers of a product stack.
+ Experience writing comprehensive test plans, identifying test coverage gaps, and improving test processes.
+ Leadership and mentorship experience; ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
