JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to ensure the region meets its desired efficiency levels in respect to customer and business expectations. The role will focus on improving automation within the region, with the intention of improving production efficiency, consistency and quality. The role will be heavily involved with new product development (design for manufacture) as well as supporting new equipment implementation and existing equipment troubleshooting. The Process Engineer will be comfortable and proficient in discussing technical areas with production, design and engineering colleagues.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Be the region (Scotland + Northern England) specialist for automation improvements
* Support new equipment installation with translation support as required (Mandarin to English)
* Support existing machinery troubleshooting with translation support as required (Mandarin to English)
* Work with technical and design teams to implement products compatible with automation.
* Enhance quality performance with automation linked technical solutions
* Work with production department to improve production line efficiencies
* Proactively identify and implement automation improvements to products and processes
* Configure first run line set up and develop work instructions to hand over to production for long term use
* Conduct training of automation and processes to production and engineering team
* Troubleshoot problems linked to automation and support investigations.
* Support NPI trials and development. Verify that product is compatible with the line and optimise set up to ensure right first time delivery.
* Conduct all operations in a safe and ethical manner.
QUALIFICATONS:
Educational and professional:
* The role would suit a technically minded graduate who holds a real interest in control systems and automation, with a BEng or BSc Engineering degree relating to electronics, control systems, robotics or automation.
* Likewise, a candidate with proven expertise in these areas will be considered.
Our ideal candidate will be:
* Fluent in English and Mandarin / Chinese languages
* Demonstrable experience of exposure to Quality/Technical functions, ideally in a dynamic, fast paced manufacturing environment.
* Experience of working within either the premium drinks or the paper, print and packaging industries is highly advantageous
* Problem solving techniques
* Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Excel and other MS office applications
* Excellent communication, briefing and presentation skills
* Full driving license and ability to travel both within the region (production sites based in East Kilbride, Hamilton, Newcastle and Whitehaven), as well as global travel required from time to time
* Methodical and analytical with strong numerical appraisal skills
* Willing to challenge norms, whilst demonstrating high levels of tenacity, positivity and calmness when facing resistance
