Patients arrive through the Surgical Services waiting room and are registered by the Clinical Coordinator. A registered nurse (RN) then completes the admission process, including gathering the patient’s health history, assessing their current condition, obtaining vital signs, and establishing IV access. Once prepared, the patient is transferred to the procedure area, where an RN circulates, and a technician assists the physician.
Following the procedure, an RN monitors the patient during recovery and prepares them for discharge. Procedures may take place in the Operating Room (OR), the GI Suite, or the ICU. RNs rotate through these various roles alongside their nursing team.
