Education and Work Experience:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent Students in good standing in high school/home school will be considered. Work/Professional Experience: A minimum of 1-year experience working with children ages 5-16 years ofScope of Position:
Program Assistant’ will provide supervision and lead activities for the After School Program, the Summer Day-Camp Program Sunday Services (Sunday School), and will provide support to the Client Choice Food Pantry (HOPE MARKET).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to speak in a large and small group situation. Provide constant supervision for children in programs on and off-site. Be attentive and work to ensure all children are safe, comfortable, and included. Show a genuine interest using compassion and sensitivity towards the children in the programs. Demonstrate initiative and the ability to originate develop and implement age-appropriate activities for Prepare supplies for activities as needed and in a timely manner. Assist children in the After School Program with Lead Bible Lessons and Chapel times using Biblical principles that are in accordance with the Doctrines of the Salvation Army. Demonstrate a reasonable and positive attitude. Demonstrate cooperation, interest, and good conduct regarding The Salvation Army policies workload and coworkers. Adapt to new methods and Demonstrate positive contact with others reflected through a positive temperament, cooperativeness, tact, sincerity, enthusiasm, and appearance to others. Adhere to Food Safety and Handling Guidelines. Assist with inventory of supplies for After School Program, Summer Day Camp, and food/beverages via email to the Program Coordinator. Attend scheduled meetings/training/commitments. Train and assist volunteers and junior volunteers, in coordination with the Corps Program Manager, using non-threatening communication. Clean and respectfully care for The Salvation Army's facility and Collect cash, credit card, check payments from parents of children and provide receipts. Do all other duties associated with your job, and other duties as assigned, as requested by the Corps Program Manager and the Commanding Drive for program activities that require transport. (If not 21, position is needed to fill vehicles with fuel, and pickup program related supplies and donations.)Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Working Conditions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, tolerate loud, noisy children, and participate in swimming/water activities. This position requires.
you to be on your feet frequently throughout the day. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead. Ability to operate a computer, fax, and telephone. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
