About the role
As the Program Engineering Manager for Babcock’s JP9101 projects, you will provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
You’ll be responsible for the delivery of complex engineering activities across the Mission System, Support System, and Legacy Software, ensuring that all deliverables meet strict technical, time, cost, and quality requirements.
Your role will be instrumental in aligning engineering resources, tools, and processes in accordance with Babcock’s rigorous policies to deliver technical outcomes that support national defence capability. This role also plays a critical part in fostering collaboration across JP9101 contracts to successfully deliver DHFCS+ and EDHFCS capabilities.
You will drive technical excellence across the lifecycle—leading investigations, making complex engineering decisions, managing technical risks, and ensuring the production and maintenance of robust technical documentation.
About you
You are a seasoned engineering professional with a strong background in managing complex, high-stakes programs within the defence or mission-critical systems domain. Your experience has honed your ability to lead technical teams, balance competing priorities, and make informed decisions throughout the engineering lifecycle.
You’re confident in your ability to communicate technical information clearly to a variety of stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where accuracy, safety, and compliance are paramount.
Your leadership style promotes capability growth, knowledge sharing, and talent development. You’re passionate about mentoring team members, driving process improvements, and building sustainable engineering practices.
With an excellent understanding of design, integration, and support techniques—and a keen awareness of emerging technologies—you’re ready to deliver innovative solutions that not only meet the needs of the JP9101 program, but also contribute to the broader goals of Babcock and the communities we serve.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
Extensive experience in relatable technical/engineering roles. Proven experience in managing applicable engineering function and/or technical delivery. An in-depth understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software). Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
