Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join a leading civil/structural architectural contracting and engineering firm known for servicing various projects throughout the NY Metro and surrounding areas. The position involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil construction projects, including drainage, paving, culverts, sidewalks, curbs, bridges, roadways, water/wastewater systems, and substations. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with the project team.

ResponsibilitiesAssist in the planning and execution of site activities.Support the Lead Superintendent in managing field labor and subcontractors.Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.Maintain quality control to company standards.Coordinate, track, and log all site activities using company management systems.Prepare and manage project documents such as RFIs, Daily Logs, and Submittals.Assist with permits and meet with city inspectors and consultants.Review and assist in writing subcontract scopes.Participate in site project meetings and ensure all activities are conducted safely.Support cost management and budget adherence efforts.Assist in supervising heavy civil construction activities, including drainage systems, paving, culverts, sidewalks, curbs, bridges, roadways, water/wastewater systems, and substations.Contribute to site works projects such as surveying, clearing, excavation, grading, drainage, erosion control, utility installation, foundation preparation, and concrete/paving.Essential SkillsStrong understanding of engineering principles and construction techniques, particularly in heavy civil projects.Ability to plan, schedule, and manage resources effectively.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.Ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain detailed records.Proficiency in project management and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and BIM software.Ability to work collaboratively with the project team and other stakeholders.Understanding of substation design, construction, and commissioning processes.Additional Skills & Qualifications3-5 years of construction experience, preferably on heavy civil projects.Strong understanding of cost management and budget adherence.Experience with heavy civil duties such as drainage, paving, culverts, sidewalks, curbs, bridges, roadways, water/wastewater systems, and substations.Experience with site works projects including surveying, clearing, excavation, grading, drainage, erosion control, utility installation, foundation preparation, and concrete/paving.OSHA 30 qualification preferred; HAZWOPER certification is a plus.Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.Strong organizational and communication skills.Ability to understand architectural plans and specifications.Work Environment

The role involves working both in office and on site in a field office, with 250+ personnel in the field and 40+ in the office. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
