Project Engineering Mgr

Marlen is seeking an energetic Project Engineering Manager to join our Engineering Team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to a team of mechanical engineer(s). You will lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and products, ensuring they meet quality, performance, and regulatory standards. The Project Engineering Manager is detail oriented, an expert in SolidWorks and drafting, and familiar with metal fabrication processes. This position is responsible for managing activities related to special projects and new product development efforts. This position will coordinate communications between sales, service and engineering departments. Developing standards for order processing, scope review, and project tracking is a high priority of this position. This evolving role will include projects for company acquisitions and system integration as needed. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and supervise a team of Mechanical Engineers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure their performance meets or exceeds client and company expectations. Allocate resources effectively and workload amongst team member(s). Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand and communicate technical and logistical project requirements, timelines, and deliverables. Monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines and address potential issues by aiding in problem solving and issue resolution. Manage custom projects for all product lines Manage NPD efforts across all Marlen business units Update project status to production, purchasing and sales teams through regular communications both written and verbal Review designs and drawings for completeness and technical feasibility Develop testing procedures for new products and machine upgrades Lead continuous improvement for engineering processes and designs Manage projects within scope and budget Assist in the development of engineering team members

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred 10+ years relevant experience / industry experience Leadership or management (2 year of experience minimum) Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus Familiarity with ANSI, or ISO standards Project or design estimation for pre-sales Ability to travel up to 25% of the time Ability to perform the design and engineering functions necessary for all product lines Strong mechanical design comprehension and aptitude Experience designing stainless steel equipment for sanitary applications, including machined components, sheet metal, and welded assemblies is a plus Strong project management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously Extensive solid modeling background with preference on Creo & SolidWorks or AutoCAD Inventor software Working knowledge of Microsoft programs – Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Infor Syteline is a plus Ability to use FEA software is a plus Comprehensive understanding of control systems necessary to communicate design intent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is often required to sit for long periods of time and use their hands and fingers in order to use computer equipment, handle paperwork, use the telephone, and work on product-related components. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach. Vision abilities required by this job include color and close vision. Occasional need to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment includes office and manufacturing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be high in production environments. The employee is exposed to mechanical parts and industrial vehicles. Occasional travel in an airplane and automobile required.
