About the Role
As S&E Advisor for Projects, you will be integrating HSSE delivery across a range of Upstream Projects and interfacing with colleagues in Upstream Operations. You will support the Projects & Wells S&E Lead and team by providing strong on-site safety and environmental oversight, embedding compliance into front-line activities. You’ll contribute to risk management, contractor S&E oversight, and promote consistency through the Assist and Assure approach, while working both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.

Position: Project Safety and Environment (S&E) Advisor
Location: Chinchilla - Western Downs
Indicative Term of Contract: 6 months
Working Schedule/roster: DIDO - 19 days on, 9 days off (11 hours working day)
Arrangement: Travel from BNE/Sunshine Coast to Chinchilla via company provided transport

Requirements
O&G constructions project experience
Construction safety experience
Expected to drive company vehicle onsite (will require standard driver's licenses)
Assist and assure experience (optional)
A Bachelor’s, Graduate Diploma, or Master’s degree in safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline (desirable).
Experience working at the frontline alongside project construction teams, positively impacting Safety & Environment (S&E) culture.
Proven operational experience and knowledge of industry safety and environment risks.
Relevant professional experience in a frontline implementation role.
General knowledge of Queensland safety and environment legislation and standards.
Working knowledge in the application of S&E legislation, tools, and techniques.
Exposure to working with external stakeholders and familiarity with relationship and liaison skills.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with a willingness to proactively connect stakeholders across the asset.
Courage to share views, insights, and uncomfortable truths, while accepting and supporting decisions made.
Experience in facilitation of risk assessments and delivery of training.
Experience in contractor S&E management, assurance, incident investigation, and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide S&E leadership to strengthen and maintain a positive and disciplined culture within the client, with clear line practice and accountability.
Establish and build strong business partnerships with the client's departments and contractors to ensure specialist safety and environmental advice supports compliance and performance aligned with asset goals.
Provide technical advice and implement safety and environmental management systems, ensuring communication and collaboration on strategy and risks, while representing asset interests with regulators and third parties.
Deliver HSSE support services by coaching, challenging, and intervening to implement and assure risk management controls, drive continuous improvement, and enable world-class HSSE performance.
Partner with staff and contractors to continuously enhance S&E culture, embracing a learner mindset, psychological safety, and human and organizational performance (HOP) principles.
Drive engagement and advocacy with a wide range of stakeholders to share best practices and address issues using a risk-based approach.
Conduct on-site engagement and assurance to ensure safety and environmental hazards, risks, and controls are understood and applied throughout the work management process.
Support compliance with local and state standards and requirements, particularly those associated with the P&G, WHS, and DETSI regulatory bodies.
