Property Manager
Description We are looking for an experienced Property Manager to oversee the operations of a residential property in Berkeley, California. This contract position involves implementing policies, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and ensuring a high standard of property management. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing staff, addressing resident concerns, and ensuring the property is well-maintained and efficiently operated. Responsibilities: • Oversee daily property operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. • Enforce property rules, regulations, and lease agreements, addressing and reporting any violations. • Manage resident files, ensuring accurate documentation during move-ins and recertifications according to regulatory guidelines. • Recruit, onboard, train, evaluate, and, if necessary, terminate property staff to maintain an experienced and effective team. • Ensure compliance with housing programs, including obtaining documentation, completing certifications, and collecting deposits and rents. • Respond promptly and courteously to resident requests and complaints, ensuring satisfaction and resolution. • Coordinate and oversee the completion of work orders and turnover of vacant units within established timelines. • Maintain accurate records and reports related to property operations, resident interactions, and program compliance. • Utilize property management software and tools, including Microsoft Office programs and, if applicable, Boston Post software. • Ensure the property is consistently well-maintained, addressing maintenance needs and ensuring a safe environment for residents. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree or two years of experience in affordable housing management is preferred. • At least two years of experience managing Tax Credit properties, including staff training and evaluation. • Strong customer service skills with the ability to address resident concerns effectively. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Boston Post software is a plus. • Basic mathematical skills and fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. • Knowledge of affordable housing programs and regulatory requirements is highly desirable. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
