Airswift has been tasked by one of our major clients to find a Quality Lead for a long-term assignment in Houston, TX.
The Quality Lead provides operational quality leadership across assigned scopes, supporting effective implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) and delivery of the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Project Assurance Plan (PAP), Project Verification Plan (PVP), and Verified Certificate of Readiness (VCR).
The role leads quality integration across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup, and contributes to readiness for Startup Quality (SUQ). It oversees supplier and contractor performance, field verification, inspection readiness, and nonconformance resolution.
The Quality Lead engages with the supply chain delivery team, supports traceability and document control requirements, and drives right-first-time outcomes through risk-based quality controls, audit support, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities are delivered in alignment with the Quality Policy, Projects Management Standard (PMS), and Woodside Management System (WMS).
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Leads implementation of the QMS across assigned scopes in line with project phase requirements.
Coordinates PQP, PAP, and PVP delivery aligned to risk and execution strategy.
Supports readiness for VCR and Startup Quality (SUQ) through progressive assurance.
Oversees contractor compliance with quality obligations and documentation requirements.
Manages NCRs and ensures effective close-out through corrective actions.
Verifies quality deliverables such as ITPs, MDRs, and inspection records.
Engages suppliers and project teams to maintain alignment on quality expectations.
Integrates quality into engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup.
Oversees contractor verification activities aligned to PVP V1–V4 and project milestones.
Supports VCR, SUQ readiness via ITR verification, preservation checks, handover preparation.
Maintains quality dashboards and inspection data using FTQ360, SiQ, Power BI, and SAP.
Applies quality templates, checklists, and document control processes across packages.
Ensures contract quality requirements and QMRs are implemented consistently.
Coordinates across disciplines to ensure phase readiness and verification alignment.
Integrates quality into safety-critical systems in line with process safety frameworks.
Participates in investigations and escalates HSE risks related to quality (e.g. lifting, EEHA, preservation).
Verifies inspection deliverables supporting isolation, containment, and structural integrity.
Collaborates with engineering and process safety to embed quality into high-risk scopes.
Promotes quality related HSE awareness through proactive field engagement.
Reviews inspection deliverables & ensures alignment with hold points & discipline requirements.
Coordinates surveillance and technical issue resolution with construction and engineering SMEs.
Supports walkthroughs and readiness reviews for system and discipline handover.
Verifies quality records, traceability, and inspection completion status.
Coordinates witnessing of inspections with project and vendor inspectors.
Maintains oversight of package documentation and MDR completeness.
Contributes to completions and pre-commissioning readiness assessments.
Champions QMS and assurance implementation across assigned scopes.
Supervises and mentors Advisors and Engineers to support quality delivery.
Coordinates with construction and engineering to embed quality expectations.
Promotes learning from NCRs, audits, and lessons learned to improve future performance.
Represents quality in readiness reviews and contractor engagements, modelling right-first-time behaviors.
Qualifications:
10+ years in quality roles across project, vendor, or construction scopes.
5+ years leading quality delivery in field, supplier, or discipline settings.
Sound knowledge of ISO 9001, QMS frameworks, and contract quality requirements.
Experienced in managing PQP and PVP scope deliverables and surveillance readiness.
Skilled in contractor engagement, ITP validation, and nonconformance resolution.
Proficient in FTQ360, SiQ, Power BI, SAP, or equivalent enterprise quality and data management systems.
Strong coordination across disciplines, supporting quality in schedule-driven environments.
Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field – Preferred; Trade with 12+ years QA/QC experience and certification – Accepted.
ISO 9001 Lead or Internal Auditor – Essential.
Certified Quality Engineer or Inspector (relevant discipline) – Essential.
Certified Quality Manager (e.g. ASQ, CQI) – Desirable.
Training in root cause analysis or causal learning – Desirable.
Continuing professional development aligned with company requirements – Preferred
