Location: Ypsilanti, MI

Shifts available: 3rd shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:30pm-730am, rotating holidays, No Weekends

Status available: Full Time, 36 hours per week

Position Purpose

The Radiology Technologist is responsible to review the Physician Order and reason for exam, position, and image of patients.  The Radiology Technologist works closely with the Radiology leadership and the Radiologist to produce the highest quality diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols.  Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body portions for interpretation by physicians.  Assists radiologist in the administration of contrast media required in specific diagnostic procedures.  Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, with integrity and initiative. 

What the Radiology Technologist will need:

Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and registered as a Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

One year working as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.

Prior experience with C-Arm strongly preferred.

Must have good working knowledge of anatomy and understanding of the principles of physics, electricity, variations of anatomical positions – supine, prone, etc.

Must know methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined films and to set up and operate equipment, with an emphasis on reduction in patient radiation dose (ALARA – As Low As Reasonably Achievable).

What the Radiology Technologist will do:

Review requests for procedures and schedule patients for radiologic procedures, arranging for patient transport to the procedure area.

Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the procedure, transferring and positioning patients, attaching or arranging immobilization and support devices, instructing and reassuring patients, using care, courtesy and tact.

Consult with the Radiologist to determine the need for additional diagnostic images for comprehensive examinations.

Assist the Radiologist in performance of routine radiographs, adjust, manipulate and control a variety of imaging equipment, and accessories used in performing diagnostic procedures.

Monitor patient's condition before and during performance of diagnostic procedures, recognizing changes that may require emergency actions and initiating appropriate responses.

Provide accurate diagnostic image identification, process diagnostic images, and monitor image quality to assure accurate, high-quality images for diagnostic interpretation.

Document procedure verification and procedural, using a computerized system, and determine need for and performs necessary re-imaging.

Collect all completed diagnostic PACS images and forward to appropriate location(s) for interpretation and results reporting.

Calculate, prepare, document and assist the Radiologist in administering and checking contrast media required in specific diagnostic procedures.

Other duties as assigned.
