Referral Coordinator
**Description** **Location** : PHMG Bellingham, Washington **Position** : Referral Coordinator (Per Diem/Relief, 0.01 FTE, Day position) **Salary Range** : $24.99 – $33.73 per hour **About the Role** : PeaceHealth is seeking a Referral Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that services approved by private payors are completed and that additional visits are requested as needed throughout the episode of care. The role also involves managing referrals and providing clerical support to staff. **Job Summary** : Assure that the services approved by private payors have been completed and request additional visits for patients as needed. Manage referrals and work closely with team members to ensure optimum utilization and cost containment. Provide clerical support and assistance to staff. **Essential Functions** + Oversee data entry and completion of referral forms/notifications. + Obtain insurance pre-authorization for patients and reauthorization of additional treatment. + Ensure insurance carrier documentation requirements are met and referral support documentation is filed in the patient’s medical record. + Efficiently manage correspondence with patients, physicians, specialists, and insurance companies. + Document pertinent information on referral forms and/or in medical records. + Ensure practitioners follow standardized guidelines as recommended by evidence-based medicine. + Communicate with billing staff and third-party payors to assure coverage of patient care. + Perform other duties as assigned. **What you bring:** + Accredited School Preferred: Business or two years college, Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse; + Minimum of 3 years required in insurance in a medical-related field or other related experience; + National Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse - Washington, or Registered Nurse preferred; + Demonstrated experience in insurance requirements for referrals and/or prior authorizations to various therapies, surgeries, procedures, diagnostic testing, and infusions; + Experience with Epic health record systems strongly preferred; + Proficient with MS Office applications and Horizon Home Care. **Why Join Us?** At PeaceHealth, we value our caregivers and strive to provide a supportive and flexible work environment.
