Position Overview:

The RN First Assistant ( RNFA ) renders direct patient care as part of the perioperative role by assisting the surgeon in the surgical treatment of the patient. The responsibility of functioning as first assistant must be based on documented knowledge and skills acquired after specialized preparation, formal instruction and supervised practice.

Standby Required with 30-minute response time from receipt of call to arrival.
Minimum 2 nights per week 0715-0645
1 Weekend per month -Friday 1715-Monday 0645

Job Description:

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Validation of the necessary clinical skills by an internship with a member of the surgical staff as mentor.Annual peer review by a physician surgeon and evaluation by the Surgery Department Director.

EXPERIENCE

Three years experience as RN in the Operating Room, PACU or Critical Care encompassing both the circulator and the scrub roles. Required

EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing

Completion of formal Registered Nurse First Assist Program

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse - State Licensure - RN Required

Certified Perioperative Nurse Certification (CNOR) Required

Pay Range is $82.43 to $109.73 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
