Job Title: Remote Sensing Scientist

Location: Springfield, VA

Eligibility: Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI Clearance

Job Description:

We are looking for somebody with a Remote Sensing background who can

support the development of new repeatable methods for spectral

processing and analytics. You will apply cutting-edge literal and

non-literal spectral analysis techniques to develop repeatable

methodologies, support intelligence reporting, and enhance GEOINT

capabilities which are used by GEOINT and Imagery Analysts. The right

candidate will have a high level of proficiency with hyperspectral

imagery (HSI), multispectral imagery (MSI), and sensor design

principles. You will be part of a highly skilled team that is driving

innovation in spectral analysis by researching, developing, and

recommending solutions for NextGen Spectral processing tools in support

of National Defense.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a mission-focused team in

Springfield, VA. By joining our team, you will work on an impactful and

compelling project that advances scientific understanding of GEOINT

related phenomenology in support of important missions that rely on

GEOINT to inform decisions in areas like defense, national security, and

disaster response.

Responsibilities:

- Develop advanced non-literal hyperspectral processing techniques and

repeatable analytical methods to enhance formal intelligence

reporting.

- Design and justify data collection strategies that ensure target

feasibility and provide consistent, high-quality inputs necessary

for developing and validating repeatable spectral exploitation

methods.

- Review and validate automated hyperspectral detections, assessing

their material characteristics and alignment with mission-specific

intelligence requirements.

- Develop and refine Computer Vision workflows to increase analytical

efficiency in GEOINT

- Conduct evaluations of COTs and GOTs spectral tools, software,

systems, and data.

- Participate in Verification & Validation (V&V) of new tools,

techniques, and processing pipelines for spectral exploitation.

- Regularly document and clearly communicate findings, impacts, and

methods via written reports to support knowledge management,

intelligence reporting, and broad dissemination.

- Contribute to spectral tradecraft documentation, including

scientific publications and internal IC content (e.g., GEOINT and

Tradecraft Hub).

Required Qualifications:

- Expertise in spectral phenomenology, spectroscopy, and

hyperspectral/multispectral processing

- Must have a strong understanding of GEOINT and the TCPED cycle

- Candidates should have hands-on experience with tools and platforms

used in daily spectral and GEOINT workflows, such as

- Spectral/GIS Analysis: ENVI, FLAASH, QUAC, AIG

- GEOINT Production: SOCET GXP, ArcGIS, electronic light tables

- Scripting/Automation: Python (or IDL/MATLAB equivalent)

- Familiarity with analytic tools such as FADE (MIST, INTELBOOK, LINX,

and WATCH BOX)

- Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills, and the

ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in

the GEOINT Community

- Bachelors Degree and 7 years of relevant professional work

experience OR a Masters Degree with 5 years of relevant professional

work experience

- substitutions are allowed for RELEVANT volunteer experience,

internships, professional certifications, military experience,

different degree types, and a variety of other things…

Desired Experience:

- GEOINT related certifications

- Experience with Computer Vision, AI/ML algorithms, and workflow

development for GEOINT applications.

- Hands-on experience evaluating commercial and government

hyperspectral exploitation tools, including software and data

platforms.

- Familiarity with scientific publishing, academic research, and

community knowledge-sharing platforms.
