Summary of Job Duties:An exciting opportunity is available in the laboratory of Dr. Amanda Stolarz for a Research Assistant to support innovative biomedical research focused on developing novel therapeutics for vascular and lymphatic diseases and mitigating the side effects of cancer therapies. This role includes both hands-on laboratory work and general lab maintenance responsibilities and is governed by state and federal regulations as well as institutional policies.
Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences or relate field PLUS three (3) years experience in a professional lab research setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Activities:
Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.

Responsibilities:
Assist in surgical procedures and provide pre- and post-operative care of laboratory rodents.
Perform functional measurements of ion channels and mitochondria in isolated cells and vessels.
Conduct molecular biology assays, including RNA and protein isolation, qPCR, ddPCR, capillary western blotting, and flow cytometry.
Execute viral transfection and gene editing techniques (adenoviral/lentiviral systems).
Maintain and culture cells and tissue, including preparation and harvesting .
Collect, process, and analyze experimental data.
Perform general lab maintenance, including cleaning glassware, preparing media and solutions, checking eyewash stations, and filing MSDS sheets .
Maintain laboratory inventory and assist the PI with ordering supplies.
Assist the PI with maintaining lab protocols and certifications .
Help train and supervise students working in the laboratory as needed.
