Job Title Research Associate Agency Texas A&M University - Kingsville Department Citrus Center Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Weslaco, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Job Summary Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Prepare proposals for funding agencies, operation of research equipment, supervision of graduate students and other lab/field personnel in research . This is a grant funded position for one year and then continuation based on available funding. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Design, plan, conduct and coordinate experiments in support of various research projects + Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques of routine research; keep detailed records of data. + Use computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results + Summarize results for inclusion in scientific , project progress reports, and clientele-oriented publications. + Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research. + Install, operate and/or repair research equipment. Additional Responsibilities + Nuclei c acid extraction, PCR, molecular biology techniques, evaluate efficacy of nutrition programs in suppressing citrus disease under field conditions, and maintain plants in greenhouse. Minimum Requirements Education – Bachelor’s degree in relevant field Experience – Two years of related professional experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities - Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment. Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks. Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others. Registration, Certification, or Licensure- Valid Texas Drivers License Supervision Received/Given U nder general supervision; generally supervises All positions are security-sensitive.
