HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Research Scientist specializing in ferrofluid technologies to join our R&D team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nanomaterials, colloidal, and surface chemistry, with experience in developing, characterizing, and optimizing Ferrofluids and Ferrobead® for research and industrial applications. The Research Scientist is fully competent in all conventional aspects of his/her field of work. Participates and is responsible for research and development activities related to Ferrofluids and Ferrobeads® product development. Utilizes established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data. Writes technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes and observations. Has an expert-level understanding of routine industrial tasks relevant to the field of work. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE • Works on complex ferrofluid formulations with minimal supervisory input (e.g. oil and water-based ferrofluids). This position requires strong knowledge of Ferrofluids, and their performance characteristics as related to particular uses and applications. • Lead research and product development projects focused on the synthesis, functionalization, and application of Ferrofluids and Ferrobead®. • Applies theoretical/analytical techniques pertaining to his/her expertise in generating solutions to conventional problems. • Analyzes data from research conducted to devise new approaches to problems that are encountered. • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of analysis as part of a major project or for a total project of moderate scope. • Provides training and assists junior level scientists and technicians as required. Duties may change without notice at management’s sole discretion WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or related field, or M.S. in Chemistry with 3+ years of relevant industry experience. • Strong expertise in nanoparticle synthesis / polymer chemistry / materials science. • Experience in magnetic bead development for nucleic acid extraction and protein/cell separation is a strong plus. • Proficiency in modern analytical techniques (e.g., FTIR, UV-Vis, TGA/DSC, dynamic light scattering/zeta potential, rheometer/viscometer, VSM/SQUID, etc.). • Experience in managing multiple research projects simultaneously. • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Experience working in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.
