We are looking for an enthusiastic Respiratory Therapist CRT to help us reach our goals. Unlock your potential! **Job Summary and Qualifications** Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies and guidelines. Defined duties are performed in neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS + Perform all duties and responsibilities required of a Respiratory Care Practitioner. + Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders. Interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives. + Recognizes life threatening situations and initiates appropriate response. + Perform CPR and bag- mask ventilation, adult, pediatric, and neonatal ventilation. + Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities. + Proficient in the application of Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV); Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) + Assist with intubations and perform extubations. + Administer aerosolized and metered-dose inhaler (MDI) via appropriate device or delivery system. Perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures such as pulse oximetry monitoring, perform capnography monitoring, arterial blood gas punctures or via arterial line, bedside pulmonary mechanics, electrocardiograms (EKG), and cardiac monitoring. + Transport patients within the hospital. Verify physician orders. Assure correct set-up, safety and function of all equipment/ supplies necessary in the provision of patient care. + Assure adherence to all infectious disease standards in the delivery of all patient care procedures. + Understands pharmacological indications, dosages and response to adverse drug reactions. Makes patient care assessments according to accepted protocols. Provides education to patients, families, physicians, nursing and other members of the health care team. Medication delivery and verification will be done according to hospital policies and guidelines. + Monitors response to all therapy. Documents in the patient medical record. Communicates all pertinent clinical information. Participates in quality improvement activities. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of respiratory equipment. + Participate in clinical rounds with physicians, nurses and other health care providers. + Assist with Bronchoscopy. + Completes other activities as assigned. + Perform and interpret blood gases and will be rotated in the quality control aspect of all analyzers. **What qualifications you will need:** + Completion of a 2 or 4 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or Bachelors) or currently enrolled in an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program, and registry eligible. LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED + Texas State Licensure (RCP) + RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) + Basic Life Support (BLS) + Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) + Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) within 180 days + Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 180 days (if working in the NICU) + BLS ACLS, PALS– must be American Heart Association HCA Houston Healthcare West (https://careers.hcahealthcare.com/pages/hca-houston-healthcare-west) is a **full-service, 300+ bed hospital** that has been offering exceptional care to the West Houston communities for over 30 years.
