Overview We are looking for a leader with exceptional Food & Beverage skills who can create a team spirit, have a Yes I Can" attitude and inspire team performance. JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Restaurant Manager DIVISION: Food & Beverage DEPARTMENT: Restaurant REPORTS TO:Assistant Director of F&B CLASSIFICATION: Exempt REPORTING STRUCTURE: POSITION SUMMARY Ensure proper training and supervision of all personnel in order to provide the highest caliber of service to all guests. While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Assist the Assistant Director of F&B with the daily operations of the Stars and Purser’s Pub. 2. Be thoroughly familiar with all restaurant menu items, specials, beverages, etc. 3. Maintain safe working conditions and practices. 4. Supervise floor during operation. 5. Set service staff schedules. 6. Monitor and critique the quality of the food. 7. Maintain food displays, special boards and/or descriptions. 8. Check reservations against VIP list from front desk; handle special attention details as needed. 9. Ensure service to all guests follows established standards, is consistent, efficient and courteous. 10. Assist staff with their job functions to ensure optimum service to guests. 11. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. 12. Document pertinent information in department’s logbook. 13. Enhance company EEO position by making a good faith effort to recruit, select, develop, and retain protected class employees. 14. Monitor staff to assure that they are following established safety and infection control policies and procedures including body mechanics and ergonomics. 15. Monitor and handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. 16. Review departmental profits, payroll expenses, etc. 17. Motivate staff to perform at their highest abilities. Communicate upselling techniques. 18. Expedite table turnover and table resetting. 19. Assist with ordering restaurant supplies and monthly inventory of supplies. 20. Monitor credit card charge procedures, reconciliation/deposits, house charges, and check controls. 21. Enforce all liquor liability laws, including prohibiting sale of liquor to intoxicated guests and to minors. 22. Maintain knowledge of hotel features/services, outlets, hours of operation, etc. 23. Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards; react and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed. 24. Be an ambassador of the hotel and the company at all times, in and out of the work place. 25. Support internal audits and accountability to Forbes standards; strive to continuously improve. 26. Ensure by example that the Inn at Perry Cabin vision and pillars are known. 27. Observe standards for the department in image, appearance, and grooming; properly represent the company and the profession to outside organizations and the community. 28. Be knowledgeable of, implement, communicate, and comply with policies of the Inn at Perry Cabin (IPC)and its Hotel Human Resources Department. 29. Maintain confidentiality and security of all guest and general hotel information. 30. Assist in other areas as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Servers, Server Assistants, Host Persons, Food Runners, Bartenders, Restaurant Supervisors JOB REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum three years’ experience in a luxury restaurant, preferably in some leadership capacity. Minimum 1 year of leadership experience required. College degree preferred. Skills Proven leadership qualities. Working knowledge of restaurant operations and management. Ability to communicate in English with hotel guests, suppliers, and employees to their understanding. Knowledge of all applicable State/Federal labor, liquor, and restaurant laws & regulations. Ability to provide friendly, efficient and courteous service to guests. Ability to analyze written reports and prepare written or typed reports. Ability to access, input and retrieve information on the computer system. Ability to work independently and exercise judgment to resolve personnel and production issues that arise during daily operations. Ability to handle the stress inherent in overseeing operations, interacting with co-employees, and resolving guest problems. Ability work under pressure, be organized, self-motivated and work well with others. Strong positive attitude and ability to initiate light conversation with guests. Knowledge of hotel property and operating hours of each guest service area. Basic knowledge of St. Michael’s and surrounding areas. Ability to provide legible communication. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner. Ability to work effectively and relate well with senior management, colleagues, subordinates, and individuals inside and outside the hotel. Understanding of the luxury hotel environment. Additional foreign language skills a plus. Qualifications Candidate must be flexible with availability to work any shifts. Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written, as this position requires continuous interaction with hotel guests and staff. Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including but not limited to assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary. Knowledge of liquor laws and regulations, health department regulations, and TIPS" certification is helpful. Experience with Excel Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $60,000.00/Yr. - $60,000.00/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
